Don't waste your time choosing tools

Nov 6, 2023

Hey, there!

I want to tell you a little story.

About the time I was confused and couldn't make good decisions.

This was at the time I started building my brand-new website.

It took a lot of time and it's finally done.

But before I started building this website, I made a big mistake that cost me 40+ hours of wasted time and a little bit of money.

Cheaper doesn't mean better

When I started out, I built my website in Typedream.

The tool was good enough for me, but as time passed I saw that it was quite slow to load up and that affected the user experience.

So I decided to switch over to MailerLite for 3 reasons:

  1. I could use one tool for email marketing and website

  2. It was cheaper

  3. I thought I could integrate my tools better

So, I built a website in MailerLite.

This probably took me around 20-25 hours to build.

I didn't do any research so...

After 2 weeks I didn't get any sales and saw that the data on my website were pretty poor.

Plus, I couldn't automatically publish newsletters to the blog, the layout of the website wasn't as flexible, and in general, this tool didn't satisfy my needs.

So, I had no choice.

I didn't want to pay for another month of something that didn't bring value to me.

So I built a new website

Which took me even more than the previous one.

Probably around 30-40 hours.

Which leads me to the point of this newsletter.

Don't waste your time choosing tools

I created 3 websites and probably put in around 100 hours in total to create everything.

This could be done in half of the time and the other half could be invested into building new products or creating content.

Have a nice day! 👋

Alex
